History of Verona Arena


The Arena was built in the first half of the 1st century AD. It had as its initial function to be the stage of gladiators’ struggles.
Since its construction, they say it has never ceased to be used. It dad its history marked by sad and joyful events. According to historians, during the Middle Ages, the Arena de Verona served to burn 200 “heretics”, and it was also home to prostitutes for a few years. How cannot visit this so wonderful place.

The Arena de Verona is the third largest amphitheater in Italy, after the Colosseum and the amphitheatre of Capua. it is the best preserved of all. The amphitheatre is very large than when it was inaugurated it could house the entire population of the city, which was around 30,000 people.

The Roman amphitheater is 152 meters long by 123 meters wide and 31 meters high. It was built built from three concentric rings, of which of these, the exterior has only one side that remains standing, being known as “Ward”.
